24th SSP Asian Table Tennis Championships Opens in Yogyakarta


The 24th SSP Asian Table Tennis Championships opens on the evening of Sep.14th, with competition starts in the morning of Sep.15th. On the opening banquet held at the Governor’s palace, K.G.P.A.A Paku Alam X, vice governor of Yogyakarta District and the President of Indonesian Table Tennis Association Mr. Oegroseno welcomed players, coaches, officials and umpires to Yogyakarta and wished everyone an enjoyable stay.



ATTU President Cai Zhenhua praised the high standard organizing and hospitality provided by 2019 ATTC Organizing Committee, and thanked the Yogyakarta District and Indonesian Table Tennis Association for their support and efforts.



Players, coaches, officials and umpires from various Asian associations gathered at the beautiful palace of Yogyakarta and enjoyed a wonderful traditional dinner with local music and dance.





ATTU Executive Board Meeting and Congress Meeting Concluded in Yogyakarta


Executive Board Meeting of Asian Table Tennis Union was held at Royal Ambarrukmo in Yogyakarta on 16th. ATTU President CAI Zhenhua, Deputy President Khalil AL-MOHANNADI, Hon.Treasurer Choudhary and Hon.Secretary General Tony Yue, ATTU Regional Vice Presidents and Committee Chairs attended the meeting.



The meeting reviewed ATTU financial status, past events and development activities. Executive Board members also decided on the quota distribution plan of Asia for 2020 Olympic Games, where each of the 5 regions is allocated one quota and the 6th quota come from Olympic Ranking. 



A new Asian development program, Aim for the Stars, was introduced at the meeting, addressing the unbalanced developing situation of different members in Asia. In charge of the new project is the experienced development officer Glenn Tepper and our own development officer Afshin Badiee. A workshop for detailed discussion on the project was held on Sep.19th.



On Sep.18th, the biannual ATTU Congress meeting was held in Melia Purosani Hotel, representatives from 34 members and 2 proxies attended the meeting. Mr.Steve Dainton, ITTF CEO was also invited to speak at the meeting on ITTF Future plans.






Multiple commendations were given at the meeting to Asian events hosts,  long term strategic partners as well as officials making long and outstanding contributions to Asian Table Tennis.
