ATTU “Aim for the Stars” 12 week Coaching Videos Series Concludes

ATTU “Aim for the Stars” 12 week coaching video series has been a great success providing motivation for Asia’s coaches and players while in lockdown over the last 3 months.

This was done in partnership between ATTU “Aim for the Stars” and Korea Table Tennis Association.

KTTA Chairman, IOC member, ITTF Executive Vice President and 2004 Olympic Champion RYU Seung Min immediately responded positively when the concept was first discussed and supported the project with his best players and proposed their International Relations Director and former Korean Cadet and Hopes Coach LEE Jongsan to lead the project from KTTA side.

This began a long process of planning and weekly discussions between KTTA’s LEE Jongsan and Glenn TEPPER, ATTU’s Projects Director in charge of ATTU “Aim for the Stars” Project to finalise weekly coaching videos.

LEE Jongsan commented:

As a former player and coach, I always wanted to help young players but I did not have a chance to help so far. Due to ATTU “Aim for the Star” Project, I could have an opportunity to help young and talented players in Asia region with this coaching video project.

The project was long and time consuming and I had to work on Saturday or even Sunday but I had been really happy because I could help young players who are our future of the sport. I cannot say it was a simple project but I can say it was worth it.

Lastly, I would like to have more projects with Table Tennis friends to help our future, so if you have ideas, please feel free to contact me. I am ready for our future of the sport.

Special thanks to ATTU and the ATTU Project Director, Glenn TEPPER for this great project and a learning opportunity.”

Despite the long hours weekly by LEE Jongsan on conclusion he was very touched by the ATTU “Aim for the Stars” Project and philosophy and asked to donate his salary to a deserving country.

After providing multiple options, as many countries were deserving finally Palestine was chosen for this donation. Stag was contacted and as usual Vivek Kohli provided very special prices to allow 14 elite Peter Karlsson rackets to be provided to Palestine’s players.

LEE Jongsan continued:

“Five Korean National Team players Jang Woo-jin, Lee Sang-su, Cho Dae-sung, An Jae-hyun, Lim Jong-hoon and the world legend of defense Joo Sae-hyuk donated their talent for young players and coaches in the Asia region. All the Korean players just wanted to help young players so they agreed on this coaching video project when they received the project draft.

I also had the same thought of helping young players so I had decided to donate the salary from ATTU to young players who are in need of Table Tennis equipment. I think this is a special experience and I do not know how I should explain this positive feeling.

In conclusion, as former player and coach, I will continue to help young players because it is our old generation’s responsibility for the future of our sport. We, old generation should do more for our younger generation because they are our future of sport.

On behalf of KTTA, I have to thank all the Korean National Team players who did their roles for this project, I really appreciate their efforts on this project”

Radwan Al-Sharif, Palestine Table Tennis Federation Secretary-General said:

Palestine greatly appreciate the kind support of LEE Jongsan, KTTA and ATTU “Aim for the Stars” Projects. The rackets will be greatly appreciated by our young players”
