Press Release

By ATTU Secretariat & ATTU Media Committee

The ATTU Executive Board meeting was held from March 27th to 28th in Guangzhou, China during the 23rd Asian Cup. Mr. Cai Zhenhua, the President of ATTU presided over the meeting. The meeting of two half-day sessions focused its discussions on issues including ATTU Events in 2010, the Development Contract with the ITTF and TV contract with IEC as well as discussions on the various propositions to the coming ITTF meetings in Moscow.

l  Sponsorship Agreement Signed

During the meeting, President Cai announced an exciting news to the meeting that ATTU has set up its own marketing department with the charge person named Mr.Yang Jianhua, who has the background of being a professional table tennis player, but now works as a successful business man both in China and overseas. Although just getting involved in this job, Mr.Yang and his

Company have managed to sign two sponsorship contracts for ATTU future events, which could generate some income for ATTU. Triomphe sport flooring, as one of the five ITTF- sanctioned floor mat brands for table tennis sport, has been designated by ATTU to be the exclusive sport flooring supplier for its future events, including Asian Cup Tournament, Asian Junior Championship and Asian Championship. Andro Sport Clothing Brand has been designated to be the exclusive clothing sponsor for the Asian team in Asia-Europe All Stars Challenge.  It was strengthened by the president that he hopes more sponsorship can go to ATTU on a competitive basis in the future.

Thanks to the great effort of Mr. Tony Yue, ATTU Hon. Secretary General, the ATTU will sign a TV contract with IEC, which enables all the ATTU events (Asian Cup, Asia-Euro Challenge and Asian Championships) to be televised live internationally.  The contract will also bring considerable income to ATTU.

l  New Staff Enrolled

With the financial contribution of Chinese Table Tennis Association, the ATTU Secretariat enrolled one more female staff named Xu Jun to work for ATTU on full-time basis.  She once worked as IF Secretariat manager during the Beijing Olympic Games. It is encouraging to see new blood come to join the work of ATTU and shoulder more responsibilities along increasing workload resulted from Marketing efforts and new events to be initiated.

l  Equipment Assistance

The highlight of the meeting was its discussion on CCTA’s $50,000 Equipment Assistance Plan which aims to help the developing associations to popularize the sport.   The meeting entrusted the regional vice presidents to work out the list of associations who shall receive the assistance.  The application form could be downloaded from in a few days’ time.
