On August 23, 2021, after many delays due to covid, the Cambodia Table Tennis Federation[CTTF] finally received the sport materials sponsored by the Asian Table Tennis Federation under the project “Aim for the Stars”.
The equipment arrived at the Morodok Decho National Stadium, since the National Olympic Stadium is currently fully occupied by the government for Covid-19 patient treatment.
As planned, the new Morodok Decho National Stadium will be used for the up-coming 32nd SEA Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Currently, the new Table Tennis training/competition hall is under-construction with plans to finish by early of October. After that, CTTF will use this new hall for training.
Equipment assistance provided by ATTU “Aim for the Stars” included 16 tables, 8 nets, 50 rackets, 102x3 star balls, 486x1 star balls, 50 surrounds, 8 scoreboards, and 8 umpire tables
Sun Sothearith, Secretary-General of CTTF said:
“CTTF thank the ATTF for the generous donation and would like to show their deep thanks to ATTU, especially Mr. Glenn Tepper and Manisha, for their hard work and supporting until we well received this generous donation from ATTU”
“This means that we already have enough equipment to train their athletes for local and international competitions, including the 2021 and 2023 Southeast Asian Games. Our athletes will use them for training inside the new stadium”
The Morodok Techo National Stadium is slated to be used as a centralised venue for training Cambodian athletes, including table tennis players.
Later, some of Cambodia’s table tennis players will fly to China for more training as part of its preparations ahead of the SEA Games.
